The University of Arizona men’s basketball team announced on social media that it was postponing its Red-Blue basketball game in Glendale until the 2025 season.
The Instagram post on Monday Sept. 30, stated that “Desert Diamond Arena and Arizona Athletics have mutually agreed” to push the game off “until next year.”
The Wildcats had scheduled two intrasquad preseason games, one in Tucson on Oct. 4 and the other in Glendale on Oct. 11. The team hoped to take advantage of a rule change the NCAA made in the off season that allows teams to play up to two preseason intrasquad scrimmages on or off campus within 400 miles of their campus.
Refunds will be offered for the Glendale event, UA officials said.
Arizona will still hold its Oct.4 Red-Blue game, an annual event to showcase new and returning team members, in McKale Center.
The showcase, which is sold out, will be MC’d by former Arizona basketball players Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson and their Road Trippin’ podcast co-host Allie Clifton.
