Over the past four years, the Downtown Tucson Partnership along with the City of Tucson have worked to add student housing, new restaurants and bars, and most recently the Sunlink Streetcar to Downtown Tucson.
The expansion of downtown has, however, created difficulties for city officials.
“I don’t support the street closures,” Ward 6 Councilman, Steve Kozachik, said. “I don’t support closing down the Fourth Avenue underpass to southbound traffic. I would like to see city staff sit down and find a way to dedicate the street car lane to just the streetcar.”
The revitalization is part of a seven-year plan to revitalize downtown and make it the central hub for the city of Tucson.
