Lasers, heavy basslines and an energetic crowd. The Rock will feel the noise on Thursday May 8 when local Tucson EDM artists take the stage.
Boasting a stacked lineup, the Rock Takeover event looks to appeal to local EDM fans and provide a night of entertainment and good vibrations.
“Bring water and stay hydrated, and headbang as much as you want,” said Kade Findley, one of the DJs performing at the event.
The event will feature artists such as Kade Findley, Rachi and Bhlind, all local EDM DJs.
“I’m trying to take people on a journey with me,” Findley said of the show.
He started his DJ playing parties at the Sigma Alpha Mu, a fraternity at the University of Arizona, then started playing shows around Tucson at bars including Gentle Ben’s, Fuku Sushi and No Anchovies.
“I have a different attitude,” he said. “Whether I’m playing at a college bar or a festival, you’re not going to get anywhere if you take it all for granted.”

The Rock, at 136 N. Park Ave., has held EDM shows in the past, including events hosted by Ape House, which is putting on the May 8 show, and Club Hatred, which promotes safe rave environments.
“Picking a venue is interesting,” DJ Rachi said. “The last venue we had there was art on the wall that resembled the vibe, so the Rock should be a good fit for the music I play.”
Bhlind, who will be going back-to-back with Rachi, said the local EDM scene is thriving, and social media is a big part of it.
“Social media is the biggest platform to get familiarized with, and that’s how you kind of blow up or get known around Tucson,” he said. “I really love the scene in Tucson so far. It’s been nothing but good to me.”

Bhlind and Rachi have known each other for a long time and have played in the same shows in the past.
“It’s pretty sick, I’ve known him since kindergarten, so it’s definitely pretty cool to play a set with him,” Rachi said.
“We went back to back at a party and we didn’t even practice, but it went really well,” Bhlind added. “I think it’s going to go really well.”
Bhlind, Rachi and Findley will be delivering dubstep for the headbangers in attendance.
The May 8 show will run from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. The event is 21+, and audience members must show a valid ID to attend.
