The Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a free two-day event on March 6 and 7 that will include tours, presentations and food.
Walnut Gulch is one of only two experimental watersheds in the West. It researches and measures water run-off that flows on the surface.
“We encourage people to come to the tours,” said Philip Heilman, who is a research leader at the Southwest Watershed Research Center.
Heilman said he could especially like to see people from Tombstone turn out.
“Tombstone is almost in the middle of the watershed,” he said.
