All across the nation, national parks, like Saguaro, will have ticket price increases this year implement programs for veterans and active duty service members.
Ticket increases will also go toward building new community gathering centers that groups like Wounded Warriors and The Mission Continues could meet at prior to entering the parks.
National Park Representative Andy Fisher explains why increasing the ticket prices will be beneficial and why funding programs for veterans is necessary.
On the other hand, Glenn Miller, representative for Rep. Raul Grijalva, spoke on how raising the ticket prices will negatively affect low and middle-class income households and how people of all incomes should be able to have access to the national parks.
During the 2018 peak season 17 parks will be affected with the jump in ticket prices:
- Arches
- Bryce Canyon
- Canyonlands
- Denali
- Glacier
- Grand Canyon
- Grand Teton
- Olympic
- Sequoia & Kings Canyon
- Yellowstone
- Yosemite
- Zion
- Acadia
- Mount Rainier
- Rocky Mountain
- Shenandoah
- Joshua Tree
For example, The Grand Canyon prices will have Vehicle Permits originally priced at $30 increase to $70, Motorcycle permits originally priced at $25 increase to $50. Individual permits for most parks, once $15, rises to $30.
