The vote to make Tucson an official Sanctuary City might have failed last November, but those who worked to get Proposition 205 on the ballot say they are going to continue to fight for the rights of immigrants and their families.
Last fall a team of UA anthropology and journalism students followed those who were championing the “Tucson Families Free and Together” initiative, including the Executive Director the People’s Defensive Initiative, Zaira Livier. Episode two of “Against the Wall,” delves into the issue of sanctuary cities and how these movements have been part of Tucson’s history for more than 40 years.
Briannon Wilfong and Ashley Fredde host the podcast episode. Other members of the team include: Vianney Cárdenas, Rosa Garcia, Kathleen Giles, Jillian Hanlin, and Michelle Rascón-Canales.
