
Snapshots from the week of friendly competition and school spirit.
Student organizations across campus came together this past week to compete in a seriesof events for the Homecoming Club Olympics Championship Belt.
Each year during homecoming week, the Bobcats, a University of Arizona seniorhonorary, puts on a series of games and contests to boost school spirit and camaraderie oncampus. The games take place on the mall, the hub of student life, drawing in hundreds ofstudent spectators.
From Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, Wildcats took part in a homecoming-themed social mediacontest, Campus Pantry donation drive and games including sponge relays where students haveto race with a wet sponge, Capture the Wilbur and Wilma and mud tug.
“So many people come out to cheer for their team, and the games bring out a wonderfulspirit of friendly competition,” said Sydney Braaten, an Arizona Ambassador and member ofSMORES Sophomore Honorary, two organizations that always show out for the events.
The organizations involved included sororities, fraternities, academic and social clubs,grade-level honoraries and other spirit groups.
“Signing up your organization gives them a chance to meet other involved students andmake some fun homecoming memories,” said Aubrey Winger, Pi Beta Phi’s Director of Serviceand Philanthropy.

Sophos and their cheering section celebrated their advance to the mud tug semifinals.

Ending the games, Homecoming Court took on the mud tug champions, Sigma Chi.

Pi Beta Phi attempts to capture Wilma, jumping to dodge their competitors.

Kappa Kappa Gamma was all-smiles in the mud pit.

Teams were getting wet and wild, as they aimed to get their water-filled sponge to their bucket.

The Bobcats put on the Homecoming Club Olympics each year, refereeing and announcing the games.
